History[]
House Pyne was founded by Ser Gilbert the Pine, who was a hedge knight known for sleeping under pine trees. Ser Gilbert at his prime found himself marching for the Andal army, wherein they laid sieged to Bronzeholm, a once mighty castle belonging to the First Men.
During the siege, the Andal warlord decided to starve the army out. With Ser Gilbert's name being popular amongst the camp, the hedge knight finally decided to assassinate the Andal warlord and lead the men the battle rather than wait.
After the battle, Ser Gilbert proclaimed himself Lord and alongside his followers rebuilt the keep and called themselves "Pyne". Descendants of Ser Gilbert, earned a sinister reputation for their cunning therefore were regarded as "dangerous" in times of war.
A member of House Pyne served in the Kingsguard.
When Lord Pyne arrived at the Battle of the Trident he saw the entire Targaryen army in full retreat with the death of Prince Rhaegar. Knowing that the war was a lost cause, he marched his army and declared his support to House Baratheon.
During the War of the Five Kings, Lord Elbert Pyne, led the Crownland army in Duskendale. Ironically, House Pyne fought against House Forrester, which was his wife's maiden house. Both sides took heavy casualties yet despite all of this House Pyne was the victor.
